10th International
Family Nursing Conference

Making Family Nursing Visible : From knowledge Building to knowledge Translation
Kyoto, Japan, June 25-27, 2011

The 10th International Family Nursing Conference ended in success with a great deal of support from people around the world.

In particular, we would like to express our deep appreciation to those people who supported us by coming to Japan and attending the conference, despite the influence of the March 11 disaster. We would also like to thank their families who accompanied them, for giving us great courage.

Furthermore, we would like to express our thanks to all of you who supported us but could not come to Japan for various reasons. It was a pity that we could not see you at the conference, but we deeply appreciate the support you provided to help make the conference a success.

At this academic conference we were able to renew our recognition of the necessity and importance of family nursing beyond national boundaries, through members who have promoted family nursing being able to renew their friendships, and through expansion of our people's network thanks to the signing of new members who are interested in family nursing.

We look forward to seeing all of you at the conference which will be held in 2013 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in the U.S.!

Number of people who have attended to the 10th IFNC: 1,007 people (Number of participating countries: 34 countries)

What's New

Welcome

Michiko Moriyama See you all in JAPAN!
Chairperson: Michiko Moriyama

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 10th International Family Nursing Conference in Kyoto. All members of the Japanese Association for Research in Family Nursing are delighted to welcome you here in Japan.

I believe that the family, an essential unit of society, has long been fulfilling crucial functions in fostering the next generation. Yet contemporary families are vulnerable, due partly to diversifying values systems and partly to the considerable changes occurring in family structures. In this context, nursing professionals are expected to play increasingly important roles in supporting families, helping resolve family problems and facilitating the sound growth of them.

The theme of the 10th Conference will be: Making Family Nursing Visible. I hope that the Conference will make world commitments of family health promotion visible through presentation of each region's practice and projects, and allow us to share these knowledge and experiences.

Kyoto, the host city of the 10th Conference, was an ancient capital and a history of over 1,200 years. It is amazing that Kyoto still manifests both ancient and modern aspects. Highlights of Kyoto include Buddhist temples, whose architecture and gardens represent the spiritual backbone of Oriental culture; natural landscapes with seasonal changes, traditional arts, crafts, and Kyoto-style cuisine. It is my sincere hope that during your time in Kyoto you will enjoy these and other elements that embody the essence of Japanese culture.
